APPLICATION CRITERIA
Purpose: The Henry W. Tidwell Memorial Scholarship Foundation awards scholarships to college-bound high school seniors based on demonstrated academic achievement, financial need, and an expressed interest in furthering their education.

Criteria: The students eligible for assistance must be graduating high school seniors who reside in South Carolina and intend to continue their education at a two or four-year college or university or a technical college for certification. Consideration will be based on academic achievement, financial need, and the student's community service record.
Students must submit a completed scholarship application, a written 500-word essay on one of the topics provided, and two letters of recommendation. Recommendation letters may come from a teacher, pastor, employer, counselor, or other professional mentor; however, letters from family members are discouraged.

Guidelines: Scholarships will be awarded on an annual basis. Applicant must provide a copy of the admission acceptance. Students must attend classes and maintain grade-point average (or equivalent) no lower than a 3.0.
All scholarships will be awarded after the recipient(s) has submitted admission acceptance paperwork along with the scholarship application and a 500-word essay on one of the topics provided.
Any student that does not maintain their GPA or drops out of school must repay their payment back to the foundation.

Amount: All Henry W. Tidwell, Sr. Memorial Scholarship amounts may vary.
Deadline: Please submit an application, essay, and recommendation letters online by May 15th.
Renewal process: This scholarship is not renewable. Only high school seniors enrolling in a two or four-year college or university or technical trade school for certification are eligible to apply for the Henry Walter Tidwell Memorial Scholarship. Previous scholarship recipients cannot re-apply.
Applications accepted January 15th - May 15th.
